Nigeria - Armed Bandits Kill 27 In Zamfara


Twenty seven persons were reportedly killed during an attacked on their villages Biya, Guru, Sabuwar Kasuwa and Dan Gulbi market DanSadau town in Maru Local Government in Zamfara State by suspected armed robbers early Monday.
The incidence, which occurred at two different occasions, scattered in some villages in Dan Sadau town and lasted for three hours on a busy Dan Gulbi market, while the second attack which took place at around 2:30pm, left 18 people dead, while eight others were seriously injured.

It was gathered that the gang, which then moved into nearby villages, went on to kill three people in Biya, one in Guru and another in Sabuwar Kasuwa.
One of the injured persons, who were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, was reported to have died while receiving medical attention.
A woman, who escaped the attack and who identified herself as Talatu Mai Tasshi, said she hide under a pyramid of abandoned sacks and could only hear the gunmen demanding for money or they would kill people.
She further said that, one of the armed robbers scolded a man, who was begging them to spare his life, saying that they (armed robbers) needed foodstuffs and other necessities and were ready to do whatever they must to meet these needs.
Spokesman of the police in the state, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sunusi Amiru declined comment when contacted, but simply said “The police commissioner is now visiting the areas and will brief you later”.
It would be recalled, there was a similar attack in the villages of Lingyado, Tungar Baushe last year, which saw over 30 people killed, while a few months later, four policemen on escort duty lost their lives to another gang.
