Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday congratulated U.S president Barack Obama on his re-election. This was contained in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the president on Media & Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati.
Jonathan congratulated Obama on behalf of himself, the Federal Government and the entire people of Nigeria.
Jonathan stated that he looked forward to the further strengthening of US-Nigeria bilateral relations and the US-Nigeria Bi-National Commission, which was established during President Obama's first term in office.
He noted that both would serve as a platform for the promotion of greater trade and economic cooperation between Nigeria and US as well as bilateral collaboration in other areas.
President Jonathan urged Obama to deliver on the dividends of democracy to the people of America and continue to be a model for true democracy to the rest of the world.
Jonathan wished Obama continued good health and God;s blessings and guidance as he prepares for his inauguration in January 2013 for a second tern in office.
