The Joint Task Force (JTF) on Operation Restore Order on Wednesday said that it had uncovered plans by the Boko Haram group to attack military barracks in Maiduguri.
This is contained in a statement issued by the JTF spokesman, Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, in Maiduguri.
“Information available to the JTF indicates clandestine plans by suspected Boko Haram terrorists group to attack military barracks in Maiduguri.
“The attack is particularly targeted at the headquarters of the 21 Armoured Brigade, Maiduguri,” Musa said.
He warned the group to shelve the plan, saying it would be disastrous and counter-productive.
According to him, the JTF wishes to warn the group that such exercise will be disastrous and counter-productive.
“It will jeopardise the security of members of the group in military custody,’’ he said.
Musa urged residents of military barracks and host communities, particularly those bordering Giwa barracks to be on alert.
He advised them to alert the JTF on any strange movements around them for necessary action,” he said.
