ED recently introduced a new article feature, Generation whY!?. We plan to highlight some of the many random and at many times illogical trends and actives that the brilliant members of our generation partake in.
This week we plan to focus on why women should never send naked pictures.
Imagine this: a group of guys sitting in a room passing around a cell phone. Each guy looks at the picture on the phone and laughs before reminding his buddy to “send that to me!” That same photo is then sent to every guy in the room, who then turn to their separate group chats, and continue to pass the picture along.
Before you know it, that naked picture you thought you were so sexy sending has been mass texted, emailed, tweeted, messaged and is now a background icon on some kid you’ve never even met’s Mac Book Pro, as he masturbates to your naked duck-face while traveling abroad.
What goes through the female mind, when a girl decides it is a good idea to send a naked picture? Having never been inside a female (mind!), I can’t say for sure, but I would imagine it’s something like: “OMG he’s gunna think I’m sooo sexy. How could he resist me!?”
Now ladies, you would be right on some level. Assuming you don’t have the body of an 80-year-old woman or that of a rhinoceros, we are going to find you sexy. How could we not find a picture of an attractive woman sexy? But when it comes to resisting a girl who is willing to send a naked pic, that’s a rather easy task to do.
Sure, a guy may be willing to have you come over and sleep with you, but the chances of him actually respecting you and wanting to be with you are extremely slim. How does he know you haven’t sent pictures to other guys before?
For all he knows, this picture could be your go-to headshot (pun intended) you send out every time you’re applying for a new boyfriend? What guy would want to be with a girl whose naked picture has been passed around more than a hacky sack in a circle of hipsters?
Do you girls not realize how easy it is to forward a picture? In the time it just took you to read that sentence, I could have just forwarded a picture to over 1,000 contacts with just one click. It’s that easy, and almost every guy does it!
Maybe we don’t forward it to 1,000 people, but I’d say 9/10 guys who receive a naked photo, have sent it to at least one other person, if not at the least, shown it to one person.
I know guys who have collected photos of naked girls over the years as if they were baseball cards. They even trade them too! (Rookie nipple shots are the most valuable).
Some girls try and take “precaution” and only send pictures of themselves naked from the neck down. While this is a better strategy because your face isn’t in the picture and it’s hard to prove it’s you (unless you have some ugly mole or something, which in that case, why are you sending a naked picture?), it’s still not worth it. Isn’t the fact that you’re embarrassed to put your face in it enough of a sign that maybe you shouldn’t be sending it at all!?
Sure, I’ve taken a naked photo before. We are all curious of how we look on camera, and sometimes it’s amusing to see your genitals in HD. But I would never in a million years actually send it to someone else. Usually it’s a quick glance, a giggle, and then an immediate delete. Naked pictures of yourself should be only for yourself.
Now guys may read this and think, “What an asshole! This guy is ruining it for the rest of us.” But just think of it this way, what if I prevent your future wife from sending a naked picture to the guy she’s trying to woo right now? Isn’t it worth it then? If it’s pictures of boobs and asses you desire, I can point you in the direction of a multitude of porn sites. There are even naked videos too!
You ladies reading this who have already sent out a naked picture before, I hope you’ve learned your lesson by now. Doesn’t matter if he’s someone you’ve been with before, someone you really like, or a five-year boyfriend, it’s not worth the risk!
You really don’t think the second you make that mistake of cheating on him, he’s not going to send it to everyone he’s ever met (he will). So ladies, for the sake of your reputation, your future husband’s sanity, and your future child’s health, stop sending naked pictures. That is what sexting is for.
