Chaos In Boko Haram Camp As Abubakar Shekau’s Deputy Challenges Him On Ceasefire

A leadership crisis appears to have broken out in the camp of Boko Haram as Mahammad Marwanu, who claimed to be the second-in-command of the sect, has dared the authority of Abubakar Shekau over a cease fire agreement and dialogue with Federal Government.
Last week, Marwanu announced that the sect reached an agreement with the Presidential Committee on Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution of Security Challenges in the North on a cease fire, a statement which was denounced by Shekau some few days later in a reported video clip.

However, Marawanu yesterday accused Shekau of being a clog in the wheel of peace in the country and called on Nigerians to continue to pray, saying if Shekau, who he referred to as an interim leader, refuses to respect the cease fire deal, he, along with other members of the sect, would abandon him.

Speaking to Voice of America, (VOA) Hausa service, Marwanu said “Between us who are praying for peace and he who prays for violence we are going to see whose prayer will be answered.

Everybody is not happy, let him come out and do what said he would do and let us see if it is possible for him to do that.”
