The State of Nigeria said that Sudanese President Omar Al Bashir will remain safe and welcome in its land at any time the Nigerian government decides to host him in the country.
Nigeria confirmed the stability of its position on the issue of hosting President Al Bashir to attend the recent African Union summit in Abuja.
The Nigerian Foreign Ministry summoned, on Monday, Sudan's Ambassador, Dr. Taj Al-Sir Mahjoub, where he was informed that the local and international reactions raised by the visit did not and will not change Nigeria's attitude towards these developments.
President Omar Al Bashir paid a visit to the Nigerian capital, Abuja, on top of a high-level official delegation to participate in the African Union summit on HIV, "AIDS", "TB" and "malaria".
The Undersecretary of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, during his meeting with Ambassador Mahjoub that Nigeria's position has been and will continue to be based on well-established principles and policies governing the work of the Nigerian diplomacy on the continent and the world.
For his part, the Sudanese Ambassador sent a letter of thanks and gratitude, on behalf of the Government of Sudan, to the Nigerian government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the back of its dealings with the participation of President Al Bashir in the activities of the African Union summit in Abuja.
