Nigerian army says it has arrested about 1,000 suspected members of the Boko Harams Islamist sect half way its operations in north east of the country.
The suspects were arrested in three north-eastern states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe during three of the six months state of emergency.
The Director of Defence Information Brig-Gen. Chris Olukolade, told journalists on Thursday that the operations have been “very successful”.
He explained that the terror group has been dislodged from its former strongholds especially in Borno and Yobe States.
However, it is not the first time that the army has announced that the Islamist group had been dislodged in other hideouts as the sect continues to cause mayhem on innocent people.
